Why not?

Last weekend was a long weekend, Go Martin Luther! All six roommates stayed up in Logan, which is pretty much unheard of, and we couldn’t think of anything fun to do.

So Friday night comes along and we’re feelin’ like losers ’cause we have zero plans. zip. ziltch. nada.

Institute Dance! Hey, why not? We had never been to one so we thought we’d check it out. The first thing we see when we walk in–speed dating. Are you FOR REAL? I laughed ’til I cried. They actually do that kind of stuff! So funny. There are some things in our little Mormon culture that I just find hilarious. Anyway, after a bit of dancing, socializing, and a root beer float(!) we decided we should think of a plan B. We hadn’t come prepared with one.

We’d all been craving some Rock band action and one of our friends, Camarie, has it–and we wanted to see her anyway!

Problem: She goes to Weber State and lives in Ogden.

Solution: Get some caffeine and drive to Ogden. Duh. (10:42)

And that we did.

We got to Ogden much later than we should have after a crazy human in the canyon thought he’d be cool and try to run us off the road. I googled the number for Highway Patrol and sent them hot on his trail. I showed him!  We also got lost a few times. How hard is it to get from Logan to Ogden? Apparently harder than we all thought. Kind of embarrassing.

Once we made it there (12:14) Camarie decided to take us all miniature golfing. It was actually really fun! We took some snapshots with the neon creatures and my final score was something around 57 over! Well done.

On our way to Ogden, Meredith (who, from now on, will be known as Millie) and Kayt had a thought. “Hey, if we’ve already come to Ogden, why not keep going?”

Tooele (home of Millie and Kayt) here we come!

Millie’s parents own their own adorable little bakery, and workers arrive at midnight to start baking for the next day. Millie wanted us to bask in the glory of a fresh cake donut, so we went straight to the bakery. Who would turn an offer like that down?! (2:34) We ate our donuts–and let me tell you something, they were to DIE for. Seriously, I don’t even like cake donuts. But these my friends, these were different. Still warm, glaze still melting. It was divine. I got a chocolate milk to go with it and I was set for the night!

We then took a tour of the place and watched them put donuts in the fryer, roll up the dough for bagels, knead the cinnamony concoction for apple fritters, it was amazing! (I am fascinated by how things are made.)

We decided to wait for Millie’s dad to get there (he would be there at 3:00, what’s another half hour? Why not? )

He was the cutest, most friendly man! He did give us a few weird looks, wondering why we were in his bakery at 3:00 in the morning without any notice at all, but he was glad we were there when he found out his freezer had broken that night! Girls to the rescue!

Walmart at 3:17 in the morning. It’s comical. We got him the part he needed and scurried back to the bakery.

We were pretty exhausted.

AND WAIT! We couldn’t leave yet! We had to wait for the bagels to come out of the oven– fresh. Come on, another hour–piece o’ cake.  They’d be done at 5! Why not?

We waited.

and waited.

and waited.

And it was worth it. We got a dozen bagels to take back with us, all fresh out of the oven. And they were definitely competing with the donuts for my love and adoration. Donuts win. They have sugar. Sorry bagels.

It was a great night/morning at the bakery!

We decided to crash at Kayt’s for the night. Arriving shortly after 5:00. Her parents were a LITTLE surprised, it was great. We slept for a solid 2 hours and woke up to the smell of breakfast! Real breakfast! Cooked and everything!

We had bacon, and pancakes with homemade syrup, and sausage, and hash browns, and OJ with salt. We definitely got spoiled.

Man, with the bakery and breakfast, I think it’s safe to say we had our fair share of calories for the weekend.

To conclude our spontaneous adventure we got to paint the “famous hay bails” in front of the Allen’s house. It’s practically a Tooele monument. They paint them differently for every season. It’s legit. haha, We shared our Aggie Pride with the people of Tooele, and got some honks and “Go Aggies” all the while. It was a blast!

Until next time….

p.s. I apologize for the incredibly confusing writing and synopsis. I don’t think I’ve caught up on sleep since that night, PLUS I spent 15 hours at school yesterday 9:00-midnight. We could say I’m feeling a little comatose.

So…Why not, you ask?

You might not be yourself for a while. But it’s worth it.

Go do something spontaneous!……..Why not?

Sisters.

Last saturday we were all lacking something to do.  So, I devised a plan.  A long awaited plan.

Pictures.

Our awesome friend (and photographer) J.D. agreed to accompany us up the canyon to take some roommate pictures for unity’s sake.  It was so much fun! It’s a new semester with new challenges–and lasting friendships.

I know the slideshows are less interesting than posting the pictures straight onto the blog. But the slide show is of EVERY SINGLE PICTURE (around 90). So you’re only going to want to watch it if you’re extremely bored, or want black mail.

Enjoy!

click here to waste (spend?) a few minutes of your life looking at our pretty faces.

p.s. photography major?  i think i’m going to do it.

…to change for the better.

2009

A new year means another chance to attempt to get things right.

Here’s my attempt.

Heather’s personal _____ for 2009:

Motto: “Live your life.”

Scripture: “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.”

2 Nephi 31:20

Do you see what I see?

I need input.

Here’s a link to a slide show of the art work I’m thinking about sending to get into the Art program up here at Utah State. If you see one that makes your face crinkle in disgust, please let me know. No hard feelings, I need some good feedback so I can get in, dang it!

Let me know what you think!

Love you all!
